Hi Dom, and welcome, but you may find it a bit disengaging here  , as we treat it as somewhere to inhabit the characters of SG-1. Hopefully not too much, though...

Don't worry Dom, you don't need to be an actual character here then, just to have a love/like of Stargate.
Some of us do like the whole let the character run in our posts (Some more than others  ), but we are generally normal people. (No Dr Higgs I am not a geek and I will never admit otherwise. )
I'm sure after a little while with us you'll find yourself playing along just nicely.
